Why Vinyl Matters.

Vinyl is outdated, expensive, imperfect, and kind of a pain but totally worth it!

In a world where everything is digital, allow me to draw compelling reasons why Vinyl records are still so important!

Art & Identity

Vinyl allows you to curate your taste physically (not just be on a device like a drone all day). Your collection says something about who you are. Spinning vinyl isn’t just about music—it’s a performance, a statement, and for DJs often a deeper level of musical craftsmanship.

Community, Culture & Discovery

Record shops, DJ culture, crate-digging, and collecting all foster community. Whether you're a DJ or a casual listener, vinyl connects you to people, stories, and hidden gems you might not find on a streaming algorithm.

Tangible Experience

Holding a vinyl record, reading liner notes, admiring the cover art—it’s physical and sensory. It’s music you can touch, see, and engage with beyond just listening.

Intentional Listening

Vinyl encourages slowing down. You choose a record, place it on the turntable, drop the needle—it’s a ritual. You’re more likely to listen to an entire album the way the artist intended, not just skip from track to track.

Sound Quality & Warmth

Vinyl offers a rich, warm analog sound that many listeners find more “alive” than digital ( the original ASMR ). The slight imperfections and analog depth can make music feel more human and immersive. It's not technically more accurate than digital, but it's emotionally resonant.

I was inspired to explain & break down why vinyl is still important.

I get bored of digital/computers only.  Also why I still use turntables, it connects me physically to the music more than other equipment.  It spins in real time & allows me to perform at a higher level technically.  Mentally when I feel down, I go to thrift stores, garage sales, pawn shops, & local record shops looking for gem vinyl records to feel better.

I can’t fully explain it, it’s ASMR, it makes me and so many other people, so happy. Try it!
